Asking questions can be both risky and rewarding! Our Elders asked a simple question at the beginning of 2021 – “Where is God leading us over the next 5 years?” As with most questions, we have an idea of what we’d LIKE God to say, but we should never make presumptions!

As we listened and discerned what God was saying to us as a church community, it became clear that along with renewing our calling and purpose, God was leading us to a name change. This was not an easy process, and the Elder’s conviction has been frequently tested as we’ve continued to take each step in obedience to God. Good ideas are not enough – we want to be motivated and aligned with God’s plan.  Lots of suggestions and inspirations were prayed into and discussed as we worked through things.  But in the end, we laid down personal taste and preferences, agreeing with a unanimous sense that ‘Hope Revolution’ was our new name.

The name ‘Hope Revolution’ is not about being catchy or appealing to a particular target market. It’s about our God-given identity and direction. It reflects back on the birth of Katalyst Church as an instrument of change – pioneering a Kingdom culture in this region. But it also looks forward towards the hope for which we push ahead with zeal. God is renewing our identity and vision for HOPE. We are not passive people.  We are custodians of hope in Jesus and champions of a hopeful future for our local community in Cardinia and beyond.

While much of our online and social media changes have already happened behind the scenes, the transition continues, with the formalities hopefully being completed by the end of June 2022.
