Growth Groups
A mature Jesus follower is one that is growing and fruitful. Maturity is not an optional extra, but an essential part of following Jesus. And yet, so often in church, we relegate discipleship, growth and maturity to a program or a personal journey that happens outside the life of the church. This is not what Paul intended when he said that Jesus gave us leaders “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12-13)
Growing is at the core of being a healthy church community. We have brought this growth and pursuit of maturity into the ‘engine room’ of the church by incorporating Activate Groups and Growth Groups. Activate Groups continue to be a place to be known and connect relationally and pastorally with one another, while Growth Groups are a sub-set that encourages intimacy with God, vulnerability with one another and growth as a Jesus follower.
